Blind Cat gets new lease on life, thanks to Rescue Me Tucson

September and October bracelet sales benefit Rescue Me Tucson (RMT), a 501(c)3 non-profit formed to operate a collaborative-based pet adoption center. Located at Suite 902 – Tucson Premium Outlets in Marana, they help multiple Tucson and Southern Arizona rescues and shelters provide consumers with a compassionate alternative to pet stores selling mill-bred puppies and kittens and help rescue animals find their forever homes. RMT’s model is based on the Best Friends No Kill Center in Los Angeles. Here is their story of how they helped Nacho find a home:

Every now and then we have an extra special adopter walk through the doors of Rescue Me Marana. A shining example of this was the family that chose to adopt Nacho the cat. Nacho is a gorgeous, fluffy orange tabby that was extra special because he was blind. His inability to see never stopped his ability to love. This sweet guy never gave up on his happily ever after. He was overlooked many times, as whispers of “how can a blind cat get around, find his food, litter?” echoed throughout the shelter. We never gave up on Nacho; we knew how adaptable he was and we knew his understanding and patient family would coming to choose him soon.

One day, a very caring mother/daughter duo came into the store and said that they were interested in adopting a cat. They only had one stipulation, it had to be a cat that NEEDED to be rescued, a cat that was “undesirable” or overlooked because it wasn’t perfect. They really wanted a cat to spoil and shower with love when most in need of it. They laid eyes on Nacho and knew instantly that he would be the perfect new family member. Nacho knew right away that he was home. Nacho sees with his heart, and his heart told him that day that he was rescued! We love our animals here at Rescue Me Marana and we love our adopters! Thank you for taking a chance on Nacho!
