Our September-October fundraising partner is Southern Arizona Cat Rescue (SACR), a 501c3 non-profit cat rescue based in Tucson, AZ, helping at-risk cats and kittens in Southern Arizona. They are foster home based and completely volunteer run by a wide variety of cat lovers and advocates! Here is their story about kittens “Pinky” and “The Brain”:
These babies came to us from a local cat colony in Tucson where they were trying to survive the streets. Sadly, they were the only survivors of their litter and each had an awful upper respiratory infection. When Brain arrived we noticed his noggin was more round-shaped vs his sister’s, which made us suspicious of hydrocephalus (buildup of fluid in the brain.) We started them on medications and gave them TLC until they were clear of illness. The Brain saw our neurologist and hydrocephalus was confirmed, so a plan was made to help him keep growing. At his follow up a few weeks later it was determined that his hydrocephalus was mild and he was cleared for adoption! These 2 kittens also tested positive for Feline Leukemia Virus. While many think that Feline Leukemia is a death sentence, infected kitties can live normal, healthy lives. Despite 
everything thrown at them, these babies have proven they are little warriors and have a zest for life. They love to play and snuggle! Pinky was adopted recently but The Brain is still searching for his forever family. We know the purrfect one will find him soon!
