August and September bracelet sales benefit Southern Arizona Cat Rescue. SACR is a foster based 501-C(3) rescue located in Tucson, dedicated to saving the lives of felines in Southern Arizona.
Cassie is about 3 years old and came to SACR around 2 years ago as a semi feral cat with 3 kittens. A week after Cassie joined us, we received a call about 3 orphaned kittens whose best chance at survival was to be with a momma cat. The kittens were only a few days old, about 2 weeks younger than Cassie’s litter. Cassie took the new babies without any issues. After Cassie raised them, the little ones were all adopted.
Cassie’s foster mom noticed that Cassie’s eyes were dilated and that she seemed to not be able to see. After some vet visits, it was determined that Cassie had Ocular FIP, for which there was no FDA approved cure. Cassie was prescribed medication to relieve pressure in her eyes, and her vision recovered. Initially we expected Cassie to have only 6 months to live, but more than 1.5 years past diagnosis she’s doing great! Luckily Cassie’s foster was willing to give her the best life she could have, and Cassie has surprised even the vet with her progress! She has opened up and become a very loving, cuddly, vocal, happy cat. She has a 12 year old foster dog companion. Cassie is very loved by her foster mom and shows her appreciation every day!
