For the month of March, Beading Divas to the Rescue is fundraising for the Greyhound Gang. Since 1995, this organization has been advocating for and helping hounds reach adoption.
Here are a few dogs the Greyhound Gang has helped:
Tiger has only one eye. It appears that his one eye was either bad at birth, or else an early trauma caused the eye to go blind. The one eye does not bother him at all. You can approach him on that blind side, and he doesn’t even startle. He does sometimes run into doors or things because he doesn’t gauge the distance correctly with the one good eye. But it doesn’t ever stop him.
When he feels comfortable, he is the most loving boy. He will follow you everywhere, and park himself wherever you are. Tiger’s first adoptive home didn’t work out. He wasn’t bonding with the husband and the tension between the husband and wife was affecting Tiger. He returned but eventually did find his forever home with eleven cats, an alpha female Afghan, and a female cocker spaniel.
Blue / Greyt Angel
Now about greyhound rescue, Greyhound Gang took greyhounds, no longer wanted by the racing industry. GG pulled off ticks and fleas, once counting 55 ticks on one dog. GG bathed them. The hounds got vaccinated, spayed or neutered and received dentals. Any other medical condition was taken care of. GG house-trained and taught them acceptable behaviors for a pet. One of the ways GG raised money to pay for the medical work, was to write about some of the dogs needing special care — the Greyt Angels. It took a long time for Blue to get into a forever home but that is what GG does — gives the dogs to the tools the dogs need and love along the way.
