Our May-June fundraising partner is Tucson Action Team for Dogs, a 501c3 dog advocacy, intervention, and education group. The Tucson Action Team is rooted in the community—it’s where we live, where we serve, and where this work truly begins.

Tucson Action Team believes in collaboration and we are stronger working together! We partnered with one of our trusted low-cost veterinary providers, the Friends Community Clinic, to host a recent clinic that served 25 dogs from families who qualified for assistance. But for us, it’s never just about the number—it’s about the people and pets behind each story. Rather than using a first-come, first-served model, which can unintentionally leave the most vulnerable behind, we chose a more compassionate and intentional approach. We personally reached out to each client, taking the time to verify their information, understand their needs, and ensure their pets received the care they deserved. Every step of the way, we worked alongside them—not just as a service, but as support.

For many families, the idea of surgery can be overwhelming. There is fear, uncertainty, and often a deep emotional attachment that makes the process even harder. We recognized that, and we made it a priority to walk each pet owner through the entire journey. From the first conversation to the moment they picked up their beloved dog, they were not alone. We answered questions, eased concerns, and provided reassurance when it was needed most. We also removed barriers wherever we could—offering transportation for those who didn’t have access, helping navigate paperwork, and making sure cost was never the reason a pet went without care. This is what it means to truly serve our community: meeting people where they are, treating every client with dignity, and ensuring that every dog has a chance at a healthier life. Because at the end of the day, this work isn’t just about spay and neuter—it’s about trust, compassion, and standing beside our community every step of the way.
