Beading Divas March/April fundraising partner is Hope of Deliverance (HOD), a 501(c)(3) non-profit dog rescue founded in Tucson. HOD partners with rural animal shelters, specifically those with minimal or no veterinary care available, to save as many dogs as possible. HOD provides “tops to tails” care for dogs they tag from rural shelters without veterinary care. All dogs will be fully vetted, microchipped, vaccinated, 4DX (test for heartworm, Lyme disease, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma), fecal tested and spay/neutered. Any surgical procedures needed are covered as well. Their focus is on over-populated rural shelters in the southwest, and when possible they will assist any dog in need of care. Rescued dog Bruce has a “Story of Perseverance”:
Bruce was one our first dogs, transferred from another rescue and one of the main reasons we fast tracked starting Hope of Deliverance. Bruce was found shot in a field in Casa Grande, laying next to his deceased female companion who he refused to leave. Bruce stayed in foster for quite a long time; he had canine PTSD from the trauma he sustained. Bruce waited for his forever home until we were asked if Gaia Provides could do a fundraiser for us as they expanded their business. Kimberly, their team member, fell instantly in love with him.
It took work and determination, with the guidance of Rachel at Sol Dog, and Bruce was officially home with his new brother, Elvis, and became the Gaia brand ambassador. He knew love like he had never known before and was quite the adventurer! So many people loved this boy and rooted for him. Bruce spent a few beautiful years with his family and even moved with them to New York. Bruce passed after battling a myriad of health conditions in his senior years. He deserved so many more years, but the years he was given were those filled with so much life and love!
