Beading Divas January/February fundraising partner is Cherished Tails Senior Sanctuary, a 501(c)(3) non-profit equine rescue organization located in Marana, Arizona. Cherished Tails rescues senior dogs (and a few cats) at high risk of euthanasia in shelters because of age or illness. They give sanctuary until these pets find a forever home, and hospice care for unadoptable animals. So far Cherished Tails has saved over 1000 pets. Meet one of their rescues, Blaze, and read his happy ending story:
Blaze came to us hind end paralyzed after the boyfriend of the prior owner abused him and broke his spinal cord. While in rescue, Blaze was able to get a better fitting cart/wheelchair and a combination of alternative therapies, PT, and traditional vet care. All of these aid him in remaining as mobile and active as his current condition allows, and improve his quality of life. We were able to heal his diaper rash and drag injuries, and most importantly he learned again how to be a dog and to live a happy and healthy life despite his condition. Blaze was fostered by a wonderful, experienced woman who has helped several “wheelie dogs.”
Blaze is the sweetest, most loving boy who was dealt a bad hand in
life. He is great with other dogs and cats, and friendly even with people he does not know as long as they approach with kindness. He has a strong spirit and big heart and is always smiling. He loves spending time outside when the weather is cooler, and enjoys his treats. After about 7 months in rescue, Blaze found his forever family right before Christmas in 2022. He is very much loved and an integral part of their family.
