February and March bracelet sales benefit Southern Arizona Greyhound Adoption. SA Greys is a Tucson-based, all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to finding loving forever homes for retired racing greyhounds in Southern Arizona. Since incorporation in 2012, they have placed 665 greyhounds in loving and qualified forever homes. Rickey is a beautiful 9-year-old black greyhound who had been adopted straight from the race track. Sadly, his original owner died and the family Rickey went to next had no experience with dogs. They thought dogs should be kept outside on a leash. This was horribly hard on Rickey and he became distrustful and aggressive. The family decided to call SA Greys to see if they would take him. The answer: of course, SA Greys would take Rickey!
Rickey had not been neutered nor had vaccinations and, it turned out, he was losing his eyesight. Many trips to the vet ensued. Wanda at Lazy Grey Ranch worked her magic and Rickey blossomed into a delightful companion. While no adopters came forward, volunteers took Rickey on outings. One of his favorites was riding in the back of a VW Beetle and going to a big park and to McDonalds for lunch.
In February 2020 Rickey found love with a wonderful lady named Emily, who was also looking for love. SA Greys just adores matchmaking! Appropriate introductions were made, and it was love at first sight! Fostering progressed to adoption in one short week. Rickie now has the happy life he deserves.

Silver Sea is open Tuesday-Sunday from noon-6pm (masks and social distancing required.)
