For the month of May, Beading Divas to the Rescue is so very proud to be raising funds for the Greyhound Alliance’s Sunburst Project & Kennel.
The Greyhound Alliance’s Sunburst Project and Kennel opened in August 2011 and since then has moved more than 1,600 retired racers to adoption.
Retired racing greyhounds from Ebro, Pensacola, and JCKC/Monticello dog tracks have gone to 38 adoption groups in 22 states and Canada. Last year, The Sunburst Kennel took in more than 250 greyhounds during the JCKC/Monticello season and closing.
This week many Sunburst hounds are on the move:
–15 hounds headed to adoption groups in the West
–32 to East Coast adoption groups
–on May 4–45 hounds will be on their way to adoption groups in Kentucky, Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin
Yowza! This is a 92-hound week!
The Greyhound Alliance is located in Illinois but saw a huge need to help retired racing greyhounds leave Florida where there are 13 dog tracks. Kudos to all involved in this extensive endeavor.
