Buy bracelets to help Southern Arizona Greyhounds
Every October Beading Divas to the Rescue chooses a greyhound adoption group to raise money for. Why greyhounds?
Well, because on October 20, 2008, greyhound adopter Lizzie Mead was on the way to the dog park with her two greyhounds when she was in a hit-and-run accident. Her dogs Rider and Opal suffered $14,300 in vet bills. Rider had 300+ stitches and his spleen was removed and Opal’s eye popped out. Fast forward 4 years later and the dogs are doing fine as is Lizzie Mead.
This month Beading Divas to the Rescue is raising money for Southern Arizona Greyhound Adoption, Tucson’s newest greyhound adoption group. Even though they are new, many of their dedicated volunteers have been around the block or two and have decades of adoption experience.
Southern Arizona Greyhound Adoption is a 501 c3 so any donations you give, are tax deductible, which is important to people on the end of giving and record keeping.
There are many ways you can help the greyhounds besides buying a bracelet or two.
You can volunteer. Volunteers are always needed and appreciated at the Marana kennel.
If you’re retired or have a flexible schedule, and live in northwest Tucson, Marana, Oro Valley, or Saddlebrooke area or don’t mind driving…volunteering at the kennel would give you an up close personal experience directly with the greyhounds who just exited track life. These initial days of meeting new people make for heart-warming, life enriching experiences. Volunteering at the kennel is always in the morning.
