August and September bracelet sales benefit Southern Arizona Cat Rescue. SACR is a foster based 501-C(3) rescue located in Tucson, dedicated to saving the lives of felines in Southern Arizona.
Bella came to SACR in February 2021 at around 4 months old with what we thought was a mild upper respiratory infection. Our veterinarian felt that antibiotics should clear it up pretty quickly. After Bella’s first round of antibiotics, she still had eye and nasal discharge and was put on a different antibiotic to see if it would help. She was also put on several different eye drops as the pressure in her eye was beginning to damage the pupil. All the while Bella was playful as ever, eating and drinking as if nothing was wrong. Weeks went by and Bella’s eye healed, but still her upper respiratory infection lingered and we knew we needed to do something further. Our veterinarian sedated Bella, took head/chest x-rays and did an oral/nasal exam where she found a nasal polyp. This benign mass of cells was causing Bella’s upper respiratory problems. We quickly scheduled her to have this removed with a local surgeon who was able to get her in 3 days later. The surgery went well and Bella recovered quickly. Within 2 weeks of surgery she was breathing better; she no longer had any snoring or nasal discharge. It was like she was a whole new cat, healthy and ready to thrive in her new life. We are so thankful for the doctors who helped find this issue and the donors who funded her medical treatment. Bella was adopted by her foster mom who just couldn’t imagine letting this sweet cat go!
