Cherished Tails Senior Sanctuary
Nikki: I’m cherished

For the month of November, Beading Divas to the Rescue is excited to be fundraising for Cherished Tails Senior Sanctuary in Marana which can accommodate a small number of homeless senior cats and dogs. These animals will receive love, medical care, quality food and a safe environment; some will be adopted. November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month.

Nikki was rescued from the Pima Animal Care Center with her eye in terrible condition. She had been surrendered (and then adopted and returned) because neither family was able to provide the care she needed. She was shy and lacked confidence due to the upset in her life and felt vulnerable because of her lack of vision.

Once in rescue Cherished Tails took her to Phoenix to a canine eye specialist, who discovered that in addition to glaucoma Nikki also had a tumor/cyst on the surface which was causing her significant pain and discomfort. His recommendation was to remove the eye, which happened quickly.

After the enucleation of the eye, she was like a whole new dog! Nikki became happy and spunky and very loving. She no longer went into hiding.

Nikki healed completely and was adopted by a family with three young children who love her to the moon.
