Oshi is a lucky Seal Point mix cat, saved by SAFE

Handsome Oshi

On July 8, 2019 a beautiful Siamese mix cat and one kitten were taken to PETCO on Broadway Blvd. The person wanted to leave the cat and kitten with a rescue. When Petco associates explained that SAFE was the rescue but the person would have to contact us the woman said if they did not keep the pair she would just release them into the parking lot.

Of course, the associate contacted us right away and we took the mamma & baby who were named Sushi & Wasabi. Wasabi was weaned but Sushi still did not really want anything to do with her “baby.” We soon discovered that Sushi was pregnant again.  Wasabi was spayed, vaccinated, tested and chipped and adopted right away.

Sushi gave birth to 5 kittens on July 31. We decided that these babies needed Japanese names so Oshi, Nori, Roe, Sake and Tobiko were named and were thriving. Siamese mix cats and kittens are very popular so Sushi was adopted right away as were the majority of the babies.

Oshi’s surgery

Oshi is a sweet, beautiful Seal Point mix male; he was adopted December 2. The next day, SAFE received a call from PACC—Oshi had been brought in for relinquishment due to not being able to walk on his hind legs. SAFE tried to contact the adopter but both the phone number and e-mail were bogus…

SAFE picked up Oshi and learned that he had a Femoral Neck Fracture on his left leg. Oshi would need surgery. On December 17, Oshi had the FHO surgery is doing very well. He needs to be kenneled for 2 weeks so he can heal and then another observation week. If all goes according to plan, Oshi will be available for adoption around January 10 or thereabouts.

Despite what ever happened to this little guy, he is still the sweetest boy. Oshi loves people and gets along with other kitties. He will be a lovely addition to a home where he will be loved furever. To be considered to adopt Oshi please fill out an application and the Cat Coordinator will review submitted applications and start a wait-list of approved adopters.
