Tucson: Remembering Kip Arnold and Cattle Dogs

Kip Arnold

To observers, sometimes Beading Divas to the Rescue feels like a big family. And with that thought and somewhat belatedly, we take this space to remember Charles C. Arnold Jr., or better known as Kip. He died on February 1, 2017. Some of you may know him as he worked for 25 years at OK Feed & Supply store on Ft. Lowell Road.

At that time, we asked Beading Diva Michelle Caillet how we could honor her step father-in-law’s memory.

You see the Caillet/Arnold households play a vital role in the Beading Divas efforts. While Michelle photographs and uploads the bracelets to Etsy and hosts the bracelet making bees at her house once a month – her husband Brian cheerfully puts up with all the chatter in the living room as well as setting up the tables and chairs for 12 to 15 women and he also cuts and knots the wires. I’m sure he does more that we’re not privy to.

Brian’s mother Alta Arnold sometimes joins the bees but more often than not, makes gorgeous bracelets in her spare time with her own bead stash while Kip took pride in naming her bracelets.

Beloved Mecca

Michelle’s family decided that they wanted to fund-raise for Arizona Cattle Dog Rescue. It took some time for ACDR to fit us into their schedule but better late than never. We’re happy they let us in. Kip had a great love for animals and many dogs throughout his life including his heeler Mecca who passed shortly before him.

You can read Kip’s obituary here.

If you would like to honor Kip, please consider making a donation in his memory to Arizona Cattle Dog Rescue or buy a bracelet or two.
